PANJIM: Directorate of Agriculture on Tuesday claimed it is not aware of any fire at Tiracol that destroyed a cashew plantation.
Speaking to Herald, Agriculture Director Nelson Figueiredo said, “As of now I am not aware of any such incident. Even if there is an incident the farmer has to report it to the zonal office nearest to him along with the fire report after which an inspection will be held.”
He added, “After the inspection a report will be made and according to the damages a farmer can get compensation of Rs 25,000 per hectare from Agriculture Department.”
