Sanguem: With monsoon drawing closer, the occupants of the government quarters have prepared themselves for the monsoon by covering the roof of their quarters with tarpaulin sheets. Given the dilapidated condition of the quarters, it has become an annual affair for the government employees occupying these quarters to cover rhe roof top with tarpaulin sheets to prevent monsoon water from seeping inside the quarters.
The cemented roof top of the quarters which were constructed some thirty years back have developed cracks at many places making the roof top weak and susceptible for entry of rain water. The residents claim if the roof top is not covered with tarpaulin sheets, then there is every possibilities of electronic gadgets getting damaged in addition to possible loss to life due to a short circuit. Incidentally though the occupants have been regularly complaining, nothing concrete has taken place over the years. The monthly rent of the employees however gets deducted from their salaries without fail, claimed the residents. Incidentally even a WRD office which is housed in one of the premises is not spared.
