MARGAO: Facing flak from certain quarters for its presence atop Moti Dongor, the Margao unit of the BJP said that the government has not handed out any promise to the migrant-inhabited residents to regularise their illegal structures.
Party leader Sharmad Raiturcar said the Parrikar government is responsible for putting an end to goondaism and anti-social activities atop the hillock over the last two years. “The BJP is not supporting the people who brought swords at Moti Dongor. On the contrary, the government had arrested these people under NSA. Peace has finally returned to Moti Dongor”, he said.
Sharmad said the Moti Dongor issue is presently pending in the High Court, clarifying that the government had never promised to regularise structures on Comunidade or government land. Margao BJP President Chandan Nayak said the BJP has not made its presence felt at Moti Dongor for the first time. “At every election, the BJP had visited Moti Dongor with requests to the voters to vote for the party”, he said, while conceding that the party has received tremendous response from the residents this time around.
