MARGAO: There is no more vacancy for BJP candidate to contest the elections in the Quepem constituency, as it has been blocked by the Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant alias Babu Kavlekar, said former minister and BJP leader Prakash Shankar Velip.
Reacting to the question he also said that he can give a good fight to the opposition candidate in Quepem if contested.
“The decision about contesting the elections depends at the last minute. However, in Quepem there is no vacancy for candidate to contest on BJP ticket, as it has been blocked by the Deputy Chief Minister Babu Kavlekar,” he stated.
Velip also said that the people of Quepem are urging him to contest the elections, and if contested can give a good fight to the opposition candidate. However, he hesitated to comment on taking retirement from politics.
“There are chances of taking positions without contesting the elections just like Governor Rajendra Arlekar”, said the ST leader.
Reacting to the Bhumiputra Adhikarni Bill 2021, he said that there is no logic to give the rights of the land by just applying the criteria of 30 years of residence and that too by citing them as Bhumiputra.
“We have already objected to the bill and the Chief Minister has agreed to rectify the same”, said Prakash.
