Margao: The South Goa Collector Swapnil Naik has promised to ensure no water logging will occur at the Comba Subway during this monsoon season.
Parents, NGO’s and others had a meeting with the District Collector and said it was a health hazard for the students travelling from here. The Collector has promised to place 3 water pumps to suck out water from the subway in case there is a possibility of water logging and has also said that the same will be observed 24 hours during the rains.
Naik also assured that there will be police placed from 6.30 am to 8.30 am and from 1 pm to 2 pm.
The Collector has also promised to repair the broken sewage line in this vicinity. “The issue of land acquisition is coming in the way of solving the problem permanently but the same will be resolved soon after the rains” he said.
Sanjay Dessai, the Assistant Principal Damodar College located on the other side of the track has to face hardships during the monsoons and also during the dry months. “Over three thousand students and their parents travel through this subway and seepage of sewage could result in a health disaster,” Dessai said.
Meanwhile the collector has promised that none of the works of disaster management will be held up due to the code of conduct.
