PANJIM: North Goa Zilla Panchayat (ZP) members on Thursday demanded equal utilisation of funds and holding of regular monthly meetings.
ZP member Dhaku Madkaikar demanded that the government should recover money from a driver, who was employed by the Upadhyaksh without obtaining approval.
The members appeared upset over the delay in holding meetings as the last meeting was held on September 13. They told Adhykasha Siddhesh Naik and the chief executive officer (CEO) Ajay Gaude to hold meeting every month as the delay was hampering the developmental works.
The ZP member also demanded that the funds be utilised judiciously in all ZP constituencies. Some of the members complained that funds was not properly utilised in all the constituencies.
Demanding that the government should recover money from a driver, who was employed by the Upadhyaksh without obtaining approval, Madkaikar alleged that the driver was a blood relation of the Upadhyaksh, who was not entitled to be a driver. He threatened to approach the Court if the government fails to recover the money from the driver, who worked for more than two years.
The meeting also approved various purchases for the Zilla Panchayat. The members later demanded that the next meeting be held in mid-January next year.
after the Adhyaksh said that the next meeting would be convened by January end.
It may be recalled that last month a section of ZP members including the former Adhyaksh Karthik Kudnekar had written a letter to the Adhyaksh expressing their displeasure over the delay in convening the monthly meeting and had demanded that the meeting be called at the earliest.
