Amongst the 8000 candidates who failed, thirteen scored over a hundred or more and one did not even open his account

PANJIM; All the 8000 candidates failed the Paper II exam that comprises of mathematics, economics and booking and accounting. Despite this, 13 candidates managed to score hundred and above, while one candidate’s total score was zero. 
The Directorate of Accounts on Friday made public the marks scored by all the 8000 candidates, who had answered the examination for the post of accountant (direct recruitment) held on January 7. All the 8000 candidates were declared failed in a result announced on August 21. Total 80 posts were advertised in October 2017. 
While not a single candidate managed to crack Paper II, several have crossed passing marks for Paper I, which was on English and general knowledge. The passing marks for Paper I was 50 out of 100, while for paper II it was 60 again out of 100. 
As per mark-sheet released by the department, total 13 candidates have scored hundred and above with top scorer with 115 marks. All the 13 candidates have failed in paper II with hardly 10-5 marks each. Further, 84 candidates have scored zero in paper II, while two have scored one mark each and another 12 candidates have got two marks each. These are the lowest scoring candidates. As many as 281 candidates have scored single digit marks for Paper II. The highest marks for paper II scored was 54, while the lowest was zero. On the other hand 66 was the highest mark scored for paper I, and zero was lowest here too. The examination papers were set by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE), who claimed that the paper was not tough. The political parties like Congress, Aam Aadmi party (AAP) had slammed government for making mockery of the recruitment process and had demanded that the re-examination be conducted. The department has now decided to re-advertise the posts by initiating fresh process.
