PANJIM: The government has relaxed the condition and has reduced the period of notice of intention to open a new school from six months to four months before the commencement of the academic year.
As per Rule 31 of Goa School Education Acts & Rules 1986, a notice of intention in writing is required before establishing a new school at least six months prior to the commencement of the academic year.
This condition has now been relaxed with a press statement stating, “The government relaxed the condition and reduced the period of notice of intention to open a new school from six months before the commencement of the academic year to four months… that is, instead of November 30, 2017 it will be January 31, 2018.” The education department receives a number of applications proposing to start new schools from primary to higher secondary level.
