a) While the level of corruption is visibly less evident, this government hasn’t been able to shake off the tag of being tolerant to corruption. The biggest evidence of this is the Chief Minister making a public announcement that there is corruption at every level in the Town and Country Planning Department and if he takes action, there will be no one left.
b) The BJP which said PPP projects “smack of massive corruption designs”, is fast tracking the biggest ever PPP project, the Mopa International airport.
c) The BJP’s campaign literature of 2012 called the land allotments for SEZ as the SEZ “land scam” and the illegal allotment of large industrial plots by the GIDC. The document states, “Government is not taking any action against those responsible for the mess. But the Parrikar government has given a specific indication, now called “loud thinking” that is “negotiating” with the same promoters who were illegally allotted land to surrender only 70% of the land allotted and keep back 30% to develop.
d) The BJP’s campaign literature mentions that the High Security number plate scam was exposed by the BJP and the contract cancelled. It is learnt that the contract has been finalised once again and the players who were involved during the Congress time are still in the frame in a new avatar.
e) The BJP campaign literature says the Regional Plan 21 selectively favoured builders and land sharks of the Ruling party. But keeping the Regional Plan 21 in abeyance for two and half years, several land sharks have taken advantage of the imbroglio and got projects passed.
f) The BJP campaign literature says the Government (Cong) wasn’t keen to introduce the Lokayukta Bill “due to fear of expose of massive corruption”. This government appointed a Lokayukta after a year in office and has not appointed a Lokayukta for a year after the previous and only one resigned.
