Now on, ‘We Pay To Take Your Trash’, says CCP

PANJIM: The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has undertaken a pilot project at Caranzalem titled “We Pay To Take Your Trash”.
The concept is as clear as the project’s name. The facility is open from 9 am to 6 pm every day and has a colourful display with messages about waste management and saving water as well.  
“It’s open to anyone at Dona Paula next to Aivao and Swimsea Resort,” said Panjim Deputy Mayor Vasant Agshikar.
The project, which is part of a larger mission towards achieving sustainable development goals, has a rate card for members of the public, regarding how much they will get paid for the kind of waste material they wish to dispose of. The rates are per kg. The facility accepts Rs 9 for ‘mix hard plastics’; Rs 15 for ‘pet plastic bottles’; Rs 3 for ‘mix soft plastics’; Rs 10 for ‘cardboard’; Rs 3 for ‘mix paper’; Rs 2  for ‘Tetrapack’; Rs 45 for ‘aluminium’, Rs 15 for ‘metals’; Rs 2 for ‘glass’ and Rs 1 for ‘coconut shells’.
