PANJIM: National Students Union of India (NSUI) has alleged that Goa University has failed to meet the September 30 deadline to come up with a solution in regard to scrapping of GUSC elections, as demanded by NSUI.
Speaking to Herald, NSUI President Ahraz Mulla said when its members visited GU it was revealed that the registrar had been changed and officials present said the new registrar will not be in Goa for two months.
“I was surprised, when the acting registrar said he doesn’t know about the incident and has no idea of what NSUI is taking about and will answer after understanding the case,” Mulla said. He said NSUI will visit GU again on Monday and after that the future course of action will be taken.
Earlier this month, GU succumbing to pressure from NSUI had agreed to set up a committee to look into the scuffle between members of the BJP student’s cell and NSUI supporters on the GU Students’ Council election day and then decide whether to have re-elections or not.
