PANJIM: The Nationalist Students Union of India (NSUI) Goa Unit Vice President Sunil Kawthankar is likely to face expulsion from the organization for filing a criminal case against PWD Minister Churchill Alemao.
At a press conference today, NSUI’s newly elected Chief Hasiba Amin said the state unit has asked the high command to expel Kawthankar for ‘anti-party activity’.
“NSUI does not support his anti-party activities. He has been targeting our parent party leaders despite being NSUI member,” she said.
Amin maintained that Kawthankar is vying for Porvorim seat ticket to contest the March 3 polls which is why he is blackmailing Congress with criminal complaints.
“We will be expelling him from the outfit,” she warned.
Labeling him as anti-Congressman, Amin while replying to a question said, Kawthankar’s acts are clearly targeting Congress.
Amin further alleged that the NSUI leader was backed by Goa Vikas Party supreme Francisco (Mickky)Pacheco.
Kawthankar on Thursday lodged a complaint against Alemao accusing him of awarding PWD contracts illegally which he claimed has caused a loss of about Rs 300 crores to the state exchequer.
In his earlier complaint, he had accused the minister of distributing water tanks to people from his constituency.
