Incidentally, some of those involved with the Sunday issue met the collector regarding an earlier private dispute on Monday.
The flare up is a result of political rivalry in Nuvem constituency. While both groups have claimed the other has instigated the fight, Sameer Naik claimed his group was attacked and he had thereafter immediately gone to the Maina-Curtorim police to file the complaint first and to inform them about what had happened.
The medical examination of Anthony Barreto, Naik’s friends and others who suffered injuries was completed at about 2 am in the presence of police.
The incident took placed after Naik and five other friends were returning from ODR springs and the altercation took place with another group of 6 people at night after the two groups passed each other and following a heated exchange of words between them.
Maina-Curtorim police are carrying out further investigations and have spoken to both the groups.
