All licenced premises selling liquor located within the areas comprising of the Corporation of City of Panaji will remain closed on October 21 on account of counting for the Valpoi by-polls, which will take place at Goa College of Home Science, Campal.
A government release states that the licenced premises having licence for “Bar and Restaurant” will be allowed to keep their restaurants open for serving food only. The Bar counter, however, in these premises will be closed and no liquor will be allowed to serve on the day.
The owner of the licensed premises having “Bar & Restaurant” will have to display a board in the premises that no liquor will be served and that the restaurant will be open for serviing food only.
The counting of votes will begin at 8 am in the hall no 1.
Over 83.08 percent of 17,920 voters cast their votes in the bye-elections held yesterday.
Two candidates – Vishwajit Rane (Congress) and Narhari Haldankar (BJP) — were in the fray for the bye-election.
In a release, the election authorities said that they have made elaborate arrangements for counting of votes at the lone counting centre.
