Odisha man held with four kilos of ganja near wholesale fish market

MARGAO: Acting on a reliable tip-off, the Crime Branch, led by PI Dattaram V Raut, raided the area near the Margao wholesale fish market on Saturday and apprehended Jitendra Nayak Satrughana Nayak red-handed with narcotic drugs suspected to be ganja.

Jitendra, 28, hailing from Gajapati District of Odisha, was found in possession of four kgs of suspected ganja, estimated to be worth Rs four lakh.

An offence under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985 has been registered, and the accused has been placed under arrest. Further investigations are ongoing under the guidance of PI Dattaram Raut, with the oversight of DySP Crime I & II and overall supervision by SP Crime Shri Rahul Gupta, IPS.

The raiding party comprised PSI Jairam Kunkalkar, Head Constable Nityanand Halarkar, Police Constables Samiulla Makandar, Vinayak Sawant, Sushant Pagui, Swapnil Simepurushkar, and Lady Police Constable Roshani Shirodkar, according to police sources.
