Officials directed to take steps to prevent accidents on Chicalim road

VASCO: Taking cognizance of a report published in Herald highlighting the dangers of commuting along the road near Chicalim Panchayat, Panchayat Minister, Mauvin Godinho inspected the site recently and directed the panchayat, PWD, Vasco Traffic Cell officials to take necessary steps to prevent accidents.

It may be recalled that Herald in its report had highlighted the dangerous intersecting point where commuters have been taking the wrong lane, which could lead to fatal accidents. Speaking to Herald, the sarpanch Sebastiao Pereira had earlier informed that the Panchayat Minister had assured him to carry out an inspection after the Assembly session. 

Chicalim panch Kamalaprasad Yadav informed that Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho, a few days ago, conducted a joint inspection of the road near Chicalim panchayat along with the panchas, Traffic Cell and PWD officials.  Godinho directed the officials to install signboards and take necessary steps to prevent accidents.

Efforts to contact Chicalim sarpanch Sebastiao Pereira on the instructions given by the minister proved futile as he was unavailable for comments.
