PONDA: Ponda Police on Monday arrested one Atthar Dil Mohammad, aged 25, native of Utter Pradesh, residing in Ponda on the charges of allegedly raping a woman, who is around 35 years of age, with a promise to marry her.
According to the police, the victim, who is also from UP, in her complaint alleged that the accused person, who is an AC mechanic by profession, cheated her by promising to marry six month ago.
She stated that the alleged accused had raped her and fled to UP and failed to return to Goa for the last six months.
Based on the victim’s complaint, the police had sent a team to UP to nab the accused. However, with the help of local police in UP, the alleged accused was nabbed and brought to Goa. He is booked under Sections 276, 420 and 380 of IPC.
