MARGAO: The Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro inaugurated a Community Farming Pilot Project for the farmers of Davorlim on Monday. The project is called Krishi Urba and will support the farmers of Davorlim. The MLA has informed that he will replicate the model across Navelim if the project gets good response.
This Agro Farming Community Project is being executed in survey nos 45 to 55 and in Survey nos 61 & 62 in Davorlim. Rumdamol, Navelim The entire project has been fenced with access gates and round-the-clock immigration will be provided to these fields through drip-irrigation sprinkler and curls. Also wells and pumps will be added on designed points throughout the cultivation with the assistance of the WRD. The farmers will be issued with Krishi cards to enable them to avail the various agriculture schemes and loans provided by the government.
Faleiro said, “The idea is to provide forward and backward linkages to the farmers so that we can provide them with the necessary training, new technological assistance improved variety of seeds organic fertilizers and facilities to sell their agricultural produce through the retail networks and through the Goa Horticulture Corporation so that Agriculture and Farming becomes a lucrative business.”
“This pilot project being implemented in Davorlim is the first of its kind and we have plans to start similar agro-projects in Ghantamorod in Aquem Baixo, Navelim and in Telaulim” he added.
