One dead, 13 including two children injured in accident at Chorla Ghat

VALPOI: In a tragic incident reported on Goa-Karnataka national highway at Chorla Ghat on Friday afternoon, one person lost his life on the spot while 13 others including two children were grievously injured. 

As per available information, a Karnataka registered Tempo Traveller was on its way from Belgaum to Goa and went off-road at the Ghat section as the driver lost control over the vehicle. The accident took place around 12:30 pm.

Shivanand Sajjan (38) from Bagalkot, Karnataka died on the spot while Satish Potdar (41), Shirish Satish Potdar (3), Vaibhav Sajjan (5), Lakshmi Mortu (21), Shrishal Koti (43), Malesh Matesh Hosmanni, Vekappa Nareli (49), Parvati Mortu (38), Suresh Mortu (52), Shridhar Sutar (37), Shivanand Teli (36) and Mahadev Shrigatti (28), all residents of Jamkhandi, Karnataka, were injured. 

The injured persons were treated at Sanquelim PHC before being shifted to GMC, Bambolim for further treatment.

The Valpoi police rushed to the site immediately after being informed and provided major aid to the victims.
