PANJIM: The prime accused in the Assagao house demolition case, Pooja Sharma, finally appeared before the Crime Branch of Goa Police at Ribandar on Monday for interrogation.
Sharma appeared before the investigating agency as the anticipatory bail application filed in the high court was cancelled.
She had been accused of razing down Agarwadekars’ house at Assagao without giving prior notice to the occupants.
As she remained out of reach of the Goa police, a PI is serving his suspension and the Director General of Police has been transferred
The house was razed down allegedly without giving a prior notice to the occupants and illegally kidnapping the father and son of the occupant. A case was registered at Anjuna Police Station and later the investigation was transferred to the Crime Branch.
The Crime Branch sent her notices under section 41 A of CrPC but she was avoiding appearance. Later she approached the lower court and later the high court for the anticipatory bail which was rejected by both the courts.
The incident took place exactly a month ago on June 22, 2024. The incident turned into a controversy after a report emerged that a senior police official of IPS level was involved in it. Subsequently, State Director General of Police Jaspal Singh, IPS, was transferred and Alok Kumar was posted in his place.
