Barely a day after two religious structures were targeted in Gulem-Canacona, burglars targeted yet another temple in Canacona decamping with valuables worth over Rs 28,000 on Thursday night.
According to police, the burglars also broke open the fund box and took away petty cash of Kuldevtta Mahadev Nagdevta Gharurpurush Temple at Patnem-Colomb.
In his complaint, one Gokuldas Komarpant stated burglars broke open the main door of Kuldevtta Mahadev Nagdevta Gharurpurush Temple at Patnem-Colomb on Thursday night and decamped with costly temple items, besides break opening the donation box.
The theft came to light, when Pujari, who regularly visits the temple for puja during mornings and evening, found the main door open when he came to perform puja on Friday morning.
It is learnt that the burglars gained entry by break opening the lock of the main door and decamped two big-sized Divlis, six smaller-sized Divlis, three brass vessels and other temple items, all worth over Rs 28,000.
The temple’s fund box, which reportedly contained around Rs 400, was broke open and cash taken away.
This is the third religious structure to have burgled by miscreants in Canacona within two days, mostly targeting temple items and donation boxes, but not touching Gods statutes inside the temples.
It may be recalled that on Wednesday night, burglars had decamped religious items worth Rs 8,350 from two roadside religious structures in the vicinity of Gulem-Canacona.
