Anti-social elements have raised their ugly head in the commercial capital. A bakery at Aquem was attacked by a group of miscreants over a minor quarrel.
The incident occurred last night when an altercation broke out between an employee of Gomes bakery and three persons after the later picked up a quarrel over some matter.
The matter was compromised by the bakery owner John Agostinho Gomes, but the three persons returned back to the bakery with another 20 persons and attacked the premises.
Glass panes and other items were left damaged during the attack, even as the owner has lodged a complaint with the Margao police over the incident.
Though Gomes does not have any knowledge as who these persons are, he said he can identify the culprits if nabbed by the police. “First, the culprits picked up a quarrel with my employee and when they cornered them and gave them a sound thrashing, they brought 20 other persons to attack the bakery”, he added. Sources in the know said the Margao police have not made much headway in the case so far. The bakery owner has suffered a loss of over Rs 5000.
