PONDA: The memories of last year’s July 23 floods came to haunt the Khursakade villagers here as the water level at the Khandepar river began to rise precariously with the incessant downpour.

The Bagayats or plantations were flooded while water started gushing into homes.

The Khandepar locals have urged the disaster team to prepare for the worst as there was an orange warning issued by the Metrology department till July 9.

It may be recalled that last year on July 23, floods had rendered 21 families homeless as their houses had collapsed, 95 homes were partly damaged, while 310 partly submerged under water.

Meanwhile when contacted Ponda Disaster management Team chief Pradeep Naik said  that they were prepared to face any situation and added that two rescue boats were kept  ready to face any eventuality.
