VASCO: The operations to pump out water from the cruise liner that hit the seabed and grounded at WISL yard some days ago would kickstart on Tuesday. At the same time, the divers hired by the charterer of the vessel would conduct survey of vessel from underneath to identify the leakages and to seal the same before the vessel is floated, informed Public Relation Officer(PRO) MPT, Seby Coutinho.
According to the Coutinho, as directed by MPT, the officials of Mumbai-based Trinity Leisure Private Limited who is the charterer of the cruise liner has arranged for all required machineries and manpower to salvage the vessel and the actual work on fixing up machineries to pump out the rainwater that gushed into the ship some days ago has been fixed so as to commence pumping operations from Tuesday morning.
“Though the salvaging team wanted to start the work of pumping out water from the vessel from today itself, however, due to high tide, the same would not be taken up on Monday and thus the same will now planned on Tuesday morning,” Coutinho added.
He further said, “The divers who would go underwater to check the leakages have arrived and they would simultaneously check the ship for leakages if any, then the same would be stopped. Primarily, the doors have been closed and soon after the water is pumped out, the salvaging team would commence operations to float the vessel and provisions would be made to pump out bunker oil stored in the vessel,” he informed.
