PANJIM: Condemning the arrest of 21-year-old climate activist Disha Ravi by the Delhi Police, the Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress on Tuesday alleged that the Modi government was stifling the voices of people in India especially the youth for supporting a cause.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress office, here, GMPC President Adv Pratima Coutinho said that the Modi was targeting anybody who protests or opposes the BJP’s views be it farmers, labourers, students, youth, women, dalits or minorities, who were the root cause of oppression and stifling of democratically divergent voices of India today.
According to Adv Coutinho, more than 300 protesting died in the past 80 days as they camp at the Delhi borders in cold winter fighting for justice. But the Modi government has turned a blind eye to their cause and worse yet they were branded as `anti-national’ and `terrorists.’
