Opposition leader welcomes action

Leader of the Opposition Digabar Kamat has welcomed the decision taken by the government in the matter and has demanded strict action against the HSRP contractor.
“I had lodged a complaint with Transport Department (which finds a mention in the show-cause notice), after my visit to the RTO Office at Arlem on October 23, 2019, wherein I experienced complete chaos and mismanagement by the contractor. I had also spoken to Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho on the issue and demanded his immediate intervention to find solutions to the issue,” he said.
He has demanded that the government take stringent action against the contractor, including forfeiting their bank guarantee. “I also demand that the government should explain to the people the actual features of the HSRP, as the plates currently fitted appear to be just ordinary,” he added.
Kamat had urged the Transport Minister and Director to ensure that additional counters are opened to facilitate persons with disabilities and senior citizens, while also demanding that the fitment of number plates be done in a time bound manner on the day and time given to the vehicle owners.
