PANJIM: In view of citizens enduring problems in the ongoing drive for installation of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP), the State government on Thursday issued a show-cause notice to the agency. Department of Transport has also scheduled a hearing in its office on November 5.
The development comes following a written complaint by Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat pointing out to discrepancies in the services by Real Mazon India Ltd – appointed by the government to execute the installation of HSRP.
“It has been reported by Registering Authorities that the vendor Real Mazon India Ltd has failed miserably in providing services to the extent of fitment of HSRP to vehicles registered in the State prior to March 31, 2019. The Leader of Opposition and MLA of Margao constituency (Digambar Kamat) has also, in a written complaint to this office, pointed out to the deficiencies in your services and a lot of public outcry has also been reported through the local print media as well TV channels and the justification to the deficiencies given by officials of your company are unacceptable,” the two-page show cause notice issued by Transport Director Rajan Satardekar states.
The notice seeks to know as to why action to the extent of invoking penalty clauses and forefeiting the performance security to the government should not be taken against the company.
The department has scheduled a personal hearing at 12pm on November 5, directing an appearance of the agency’s representative.
Being the lowest bidder, the government selected Real Mazon for the project and signed an agreement wherein the company furnished performance security of Rs 1 core in the form of bank guarantee towards the work order.
