PANJIM: Sunburn organisers say they have presented the government with five venue options for the three-day annual event, if Candolim is not consented to as venue this year.
“We have not received any official intimation about Candolim being rejected as a venue for Sunburn-Goa 2013, and if it is, we have given the government (tourism department) four other venue options for the event, said Harinder Singh, promoter of Percepts Private Limited, the organisers of the event.
When contacted by Herald, Singh said that he had only been reading media reports that the government is not keen on having the Sunburn festival in the coastal village of Candolim.
“We are aware of the fact that Candolim gets congested during the festival and if the government feels that there should be a change of venue we will accept whatever directions come to us from the government. There were also arguements that Candolim does not have the required infrastructure to cater to the large crowds that gather.
Singh was however tight lipped on the other four alternative venues mentioned in their application for permissions to organise the festival in December and said that at the moment the organizers are just awaiting for the approvals from the government for the festival venue.
Asked whether they have received good response for their on-line early bird sale of tickets, Singh said it was good, but refused to elaborate on how many tickets were sold.
“This is an option we give music fans to get tickets at a discount,” he said adding that the on-line sale of tickets had no mention of the venue location.
