Orgao panch files police complaint against contractor

A member of the Tiverem-Orgao panchayat has filed a police complaint accusing a civil contractor from Marcel of abusing and threatening to assault him.
In his police complaint, the panch, Ashok Govekar has claimed that a civil contractor from Marcel has threatened him with dire consequences if he raised objections to the works undertaken by the civil contractor in Tiverem-Orgao panchayat.
“I am an elected member of the Tiverem-Orgao panchayat and being a public representative, I have to look in matters of public interest. The accused is the partner in a civil-contractor firm. I found certain irregularities in the works undertaken by the firm and had raised objections,” said Govekar.
“When I was at Marcel on March 30, the accused abused me and threatened me with dire consequences if I were to raise any objections to the civil works undertaken by the accused. This is totally wrong and I cannot keep quiet against the irregularities,” he added.
