Overflowing gutters pose risk to Housing Board colony at Curti-Khandepar

PONDA: The residents of old Housing Board colony at Curti-Khandepar have complained that accumulation of water from the overflowing gutters poses a risk to their residential buildings.

They demanded that Curti-Khandepar Panchayat should widen the gutter and natural nullahs so that the rain water is drained off fast.

Social worker Sherly Dias and locals who addressed mediapersons said, “It’s been two years since they are facing this hardship. Even if there is no rain, the gutters are overflowing due to spring water generated in the rainy season.”

She said, “Rainwater is flowing from hills as well as Amigos area and therefore the gutter size is falling short.”

She stated that two persons were injured after attempting to wade through flood water and senior citizens face more hardship to get to their flats at Housing Board complex.

The road was recently dug to lay power cables and the mud has been dumped into the gutter, leading to flooding of the Housing Board quarters area.
