MARGAO: Goa Vikas Party supremo Mickky Pacheco has warned the BJP against taking the GVP’s support for granted. He also stated, “GVP will rethink its support to the ruling BJP dispensation in the next Assembly election and will contest in all 40 seats if, within the next three months, the BJP government can’t solve the issues of Mopa, medium of instruction, regional plan and other burning issues”.
Pacheco has also demanded immediate resolutions to the issues of mining, coconut trees, shacks, and dhirios.
Clearing his stand on the alliance, Pacheco said, “GVP will not stand with a party that did not do anything for the people, and don’t assume we are with you. The issues haven’t been solved by BJP or any national party. A regional force will be needed to solve the issues of the State and I urge the new regional forces to join GVP in its cause.”
“We will have these issues in our party manifesto for the upcoming Assembly election if the BJP doesn’t solve them soon. GVP will pitch candidates in all 40 constituencies, of which 75% will be new faces, including in Benaulim constituency. If brought to power, GVP will scrap Mopa airport as the project won’t benefit anyone,” he said.
It may be recalled that BJP Goa president Vinay Tendulkar had stated that BJP would get the GVP’s support for the elections and left the GVP to decide on the alliance.
