PANJIM: Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party will decide on continuing its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party 3 months before the Assembly polls, MGP President Deepak Dhavalikar said after a meeting of party workers and executive panel members on Saturday.
He said party workers are not happy with the alliance as BJP on being elected to power has not given importance to MGP and failed to fulfill promises made at the time of going to the polls.
MGP has decided to campaign in 22 constituencies in both districts before taking the final decision. He said that constituencies in Ponda and Bicholim talukas and constituencies including Canacona, Dabolim, Vasco, St Cruz, Cumbarjua, Valpoi, Sanvordem, Quepem and Sanguem will be targeted by MGP.
MGP had governed for 17 years from 1963 onwards before Congress emerged as a strong force. The party between 2005-12 was in coalition with Cong but later shifted its loyalty to BJP and fought the 2012 polls in alliance with BJP.
