The agitation by government job aspirants in Bihar is set to intensify, with candidates preparing for teacher recruitment and other competitive examinations announcing an indefinite hunger strike in Patna from August 18. The protest will be held at the Gardanibagh protest site and will focus on delays in several recruitment processes, including BPSC TRE-4, BSSC, librarian, sub-inspector and constable recruitment.
Student leader Dilip Kumar has announced that the hunger strike will begin on August 18. Protesters have warned that if the government does not take concrete action on their demands within five days, they will intensify the agitation and move towards surrounding the Bihar Legislative Assembly.

TRE-4 Advertisement At Centre Of Protest
The immediate demand of the protesters is the release of the BPSC TRE-4 recruitment advertisement covering vacant posts across subjects. Candidates have said they are not seeking a fresh requisition from the government, but want the recruitment process to begin without further delay.
The issue has remained a major concern among teacher recruitment aspirants, who say they have been waiting for the notification despite earlier assurances. The protesters have also demanded that the examination be conducted in a single phase under the “One Candidate, One Result” policy.
The candidates have also raised concerns over the vacancies to be included in TRE-4 and want adequate posts to be announced across subjects.
Other Recruitment Exams Also In Focus
The agitation extends beyond teacher recruitment. Aspirants preparing for BSSC examinations, librarian recruitment, sub-inspector and constable recruitment have also joined the movement.
According to reports, protesters are seeking examination dates for recruitment processes that have remained pending for extended periods. They have also demanded the release of the librarian recruitment notification, which they claim has been pending for years.
Candidates have argued that delays are creating difficulties for thousands of job aspirants who spend years preparing for government examinations. They say prolonged recruitment cycles can also create additional pressure for candidates approaching upper age limits.
Five-Day Deadline For Government
The protesters have given the government five days to respond to their demands after the hunger strike begins. If there is no concrete action, Dilip Kumar and other student leaders have warned of further escalation, including an attempt to surround the Bihar Legislative Assembly.
The announcement comes amid growing frustration among aspirants over recruitment delays. Student leaders have said repeated assurances are no longer sufficient and that they want clear decisions and timelines from the government.
The hunger strike at Gardanibagh is therefore expected to become a key test of how the Bihar government responds to the demands of candidates seeking clarity on pending recruitment processes.
