PANJIM: Internationally acclaimed Goan artist Padma Bhushan Laxman Pai will be cremated on Thursday, March 18, at 4 pm at Margao Hindu Crematorium (MHC) in Pajifond. The Government of Goa will give a guard of honour as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
The mortal remains of the acclaimed artist will be kept at his residence at A-1, Ocean Heights, near Dona Paula Circle from 12 noon to 2 pm for his admirers to pay their last respects. Thereafter the mortal remains will be taken to his ancestral home at Margao and kept for a few minutes. The final journey will start from his ancestral house at 3.30 pm and reach MHC at 3.45 pm. The Guard of Honour will be given to the departed soul before the final cremation.
His son Akash, daughter-in-law Nidhi, close associate Shaistah Thapar and family members will remain present during the funeral at 4 pm. The family has appealed to all to follow COVID protocols and maintain social distancing while paying respects to the departed soul.
It may be recalled that Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat had urged the government to accord State honours for Pai’s funeral and to take care of all the arrangements.
