New Cansaulim PHC should be opened soon, says Sarpanch

Furtado says he & panchas were not invited for the recent inspection of the centre by Health Minister

VASCO: Upset over the exclusion of panchas during the recent inspection of new Cansaulim Primary Health Centre by Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, sarpanch Jose Maria Furtado said the facility should be opened for public soon.

Addressing media persons, Furtado said, “The much-awaited newly built Cansaulim Primary Health Centre is expected to open for public in the next two months as per the social media post of the Health Minister.” He learnt that Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Tuesday inspected the Health Centre along with Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha but, questioned as to why he and the panchas were not intimated/invited for the inspection of the health centre.

Furtado expressed surprise over the recent visit of Health minister to inspect the new health centre. 

The Cansaulim sarpanch said he was unaware of the minister’s visit and added that the MLA did not inform him about the inspection.

Furtado said he and the panchas were kept in dark on the minister’s visit. 

“I feel we should have been informed by Alina on this inspection. This health centre needs to be opened soon so that locals benefit from it,” he said.

Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha said the Health Minister inspected the new Primary Health Centre at Cansaulim on Tuesday. 

When questioned why the panchas were not invited, she asked whether the Health Minister requires permission from the panchayat to inspect the health centre.
