Palolem cable operator’s assistant flees with Rs 2.5 lakh

CANACONA: A cable operator having his office at Palolem has lodged a complaint with Canacona police alleging that Rs 2.5 lakh has been stolen from his office on Saturday night.
Canacona police said that the owner of the cable network having his office near Palolem filed a complaint that Rs 2.5 lakh from his office was stolen at around 11 pm on Saturday. 
Since one of his employee, Salim Ansari, a native of Bihar, is reportedly missing since after the cash went missing, the owner of the cable network has named him as the prime accused in the theft. 
Police said that upon receiving the complain they have registered an offence against the accused who was working with the cable network as assistant since last three years and was on duty at that time. He is booked under Section 381 of IPC, police said. 
Sources said that a police team led by Investigation officer PSI Ramesh Shirodkar has left for Hubli, a city in Karnataka, as cell phone surveillance revealed his presence in that region.
Canacona PI Sudesh Narvekar said, “We have tracked his location in Hubli on the basis of his mobile phone location and are confident that we’ll be able to track down and arrest the culprit shortly.”
