CURCHOREM: Quepem police registered a complaint against Xeldem panch Lourenchina Correia for assaulting a 42-year-old resident of Sonafator, Tilamol on Sunday.
According to the case registered by the police under Section 323 of IPC, Correia assaulted Agnelo Fernandes soon after the Xeldem gram sabha which was held on Sunday morning.
“According to the complaint, the lady panch Correia slapped Fernandes after some arguments over the issue of refusing NOC to obtain domestic water connection to his house at Sonafator,” Informed PI Brutno Peixote.
However, Assolda Sarpanch Pramod Gauns Desai informed that Fernandes had applied for a separate house number after bifurcating his ancestor house at Sonafator in order to obtain separate electricity and water connections in his own name.
“In order to process his case, I had given him a letter to bring a No Objection Certificate from health officer which he obtained and submitted to our office but it is kept pending due to some objection raised by panch member Correia who represents his ward. I tried my level best and pacified both Correia and Fernandes after they had some discussion during the gram sabha when Fernandes raised the point and sought to know why new number has not been allotted to his house till now,” Gauns Dessai said.
and informed that the incident of assault took place after the declaration that gram sabha is ended.
