Panel wants govt to suspend Goa Dairy officials

Farmers’ Melava to highlight alleged scams in Goa Dairy today

PONDA: The seven-member inquiry committee head Dattaprasad Savordekar on Monday said the panel has demanded that the Government and Cooperative Registrar suspend the Goa Dairy BoDs, MD and Accountant so as to conduct fair probe into dairy affairs and unearth the  scams.
Addressing the media, Savordekar feared that the constant infighting among BoDs, MD and chairman could further impact the routine dairy affairs and added that the demand for suspending the officials will be put before the government and Registrar of Cooperative Societies by farmers and Goa Dairy heads of societies through a representation.
He said after two days of inquiry into Goa Dairy`s cattlefeed plant, they came across crucial documents and extended his full cooperation to CA appointed by Registrar to probe into the mismanagement of Goa Dairy.
Meanwhile, the Farmers’ Melava will be held in front of Goa Dairy on April 24 at 10 am wherein the farmers will highlight the events and alleged scams in the Goa Dairy.
The inquiry committee will submit the report on the investigations conducted  as per the directions of AGM and document based on which they had complained to Registrar for the conducting a probe into Goa Dairy scams. Based on discussion, a final representation will be submitted to government to protect Goa Dairy from scams and the steps to be taken to make Goa Dairy corruption-free.
It may be recalled that the inquiry committee was  appointed by the annual general body of Goa Dairy farmers comprising 170 Societies a few months ago to probe into overall mismanagement and losses to the tune of Rs 5 crore to Goa Dairy cattlefeed plant  for 2015-16.  The AGM  had expressed serious concerns over the said losses which directly affected farmers’ interest.
He alleged that the infighting between MD, Chairman and BODs has sidelined the interest of Goa Dairy and  farmers issues.
He said farmers have demanded that cattlefeed rates be reduced, increased subsidy on milk supply and proper maintenance of accounts of Goa Dairy.
