MARGAO: Stating that the Congress Party never objected to commencing of mining operations, Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco said the government could set up a corporation to carry on with the mining activities.
He alleged that the BJP has been fooling the people and wondered how the government will now respond to the legal advice which has suggested that a revision petition may not be tenable to start the mining activities in Goa. He said the govt should go ahead and form a corporation to undertake mining activity in Goa. “At least then the resources taken from the land will remain in Goa and benefit Goans,” he said.
He said people have understood the mining racket and added that is the reason why people are now demanding that the wealth be shared with them.
