Panic spreads in Khede Savoi Verem GPS after snake enters classroom

PONDA: A snake entered into a classroom of Khede Savoi Verem Government Primary School and raised its hood on Wednesday, spreading panic among students and the teacher.

The incident took at around 11 am. Students were learning alphabets when the serpent suddenly appeared in the classroom. The students and the teacher got scared and shrieked. The commotion scared the snake as well and spread its hood in self-defence. The panicked students and teacher rushed out of the class. 

The teacher informed some of the parents of the students living in the vicinity, who reached the spot. The snake took charge of the place and coiled in the classroom for an hour, till the members of Animal Rescue Squad (ARS), led by Charan Desai, visited the spot and rescued the snake and released it in its habitat. 

Locals thanked the ARS team for handling the situation aptly by rescuing the reptile as panic caused by sighting a snake tends to endanger its life. After the situation was salvaged, the locals jokingly said the serpent might return as a new teacher or as student. Although the snake scared the students, but in the process they also got to see a live demonstration on snake rescue. 

Some locals said the trees bushes around school should be trimmed and the area should be kept clear to prevent snakes from taking shelter in the school premises.
