PANJIM POLICE SEEK TIME TO FILE REPLY

Panjim Police for the second time sought time to file a reply to the Congress plea to register a FIR against 10 rebel MLAs and others for forging documents.

When the matter came up before the ad-hoc Civil Judge Senior Division and Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Panjim, the additional public prosecutor representing the Panjim Police Inspector (PI) again sought time to file his reply.

To this, Adv Abhijit Gosavi, arguing on behalf of the petitioner State Congress president Girish Chodankar told the court that the matter is getting delayed and the respondent be asked to give copy of the reply to him in advance so that he can argue it during the next hearing.

The Judge Artikumari Naik then adjourned the matter to August 2.

Earlier, on July 7, the Panjim police inspector had sought time to file his reply. Superintendent of Police (SP) North and the public prosecutor are the other respondents.

Chodankar has approached the court praying for registration of FIR against the 10 rebel party MLAs for allegedly forging party documents.

Gosavi told the court that the criminal miscellaneous application does not fall in the ambit of the Supreme Court directives and prayed that the Panjim police be directed to register the FIR against the persons named in the complaint for forging party documents and to conduct free and proper investigations and to timely submit the progress of investigations to the court.
