Panjimite jumps off Mandovi bridge, dies

PANJIM: Prominent citizen of Panjim, Engineer and Planner Silvestre Nascimento D'Souza ended his life by jumping off the Mandovi Bridge, an incident that has sent shockwaves through those who know and have worked with him personally.

PANJIM: Prominent citizen of Panjim, Engineer and Planner Silvestre Nascimento D’Souza ended his life by jumping off the Mandovi Bridge, an incident that has sent shockwaves through those who know and have worked with him personally. 
 The police later fished out the floating body from the river and have registered a case of unnatural death. A senior citizen D’Souza, aged 72, was suffering from depression, police officials claimed. 
“The victim is one Cyril Nascimento D’Souza a resident of Dona Paula. His family has said that he was under depression for the last three years and that he was under treatment for it,” a police official said adding that further investigations were in progress.  A civil engineer by profession D’Souza was actively involved in the planning of Panjim.
 especially with flood control measures, traffic planning and in general city planning along with the much acclaimed Charles Correa Foundation. 
A very connected man, D’Souza had among his close circle many prominent and active civil society members, whose interest in societal welfare is only too well known.
