MARGAO: United Goans Democratic Party Secretary General Anacleto Viegas has demanded to know why Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is shielding his Sport Minister Ramesh Tawadkar in respect of the Ruby Residency building collapse case.
“Is there a complicity of the Chief Minister to the grant of licenses and clearances,” he said, while saying that Goans are waiting for answers to these and other unanswered questions from the BJP Government.
“The cat is finally out of the bag. Tawadkar owns up to purchase of the flat at Ruby Apartments, Canacona and an office to operate from. The building collapse was no more an accident than the deliberate intervention of the Sports Minister to expedite his personal fortunes.” Anacleto said, while demanding that the Crime Branch which has not completed its investigation must find answers to the numerous questions which arise from the obvious dubious deal. “Why was a flat costing Rs 55 lakh sold for Rs 24 lakh? Was it a return on his assurance to get the Municipal and Town and Planning clearances with speed? Why was the office given free of charge? What is the good quality for which Mr Tawadkar was being rewarded,” he has demanded to know.
