CANACONA: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday assured to take up several issues pertaining to Canacona taluka, including the widening of the narrow road leading to Palolem beach and a fishing jetty at Palolem.
Parrikar gave the assurances while addressing two corner meetings at Palolem and Agonda. Earlier, Parrikar along with Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar met Palolem residents at Club House Palolem and urged them to vote for BJP’s candidate, Narendra Sawaikar.
When residents put forth few demands and difficulties, Parrikar responded saying: “I will ensure that the narrow road to Palolem beach will be taken up for widening in a determined manner in future.”
Regarding acute shortage of parking space crunch, Parrikar said: “If some solution can be found amicably its okay, otherwise we will have to work out plans to find a suitable land and earmark it for parking.”
He further said that a fishing jetty for fishermen community will be taken up for construction at Palolem.
When Parrikar’s attention was drawn to the Tourism department’s notices received by several tourism stakeholders threatening hefty fines for not paying license fees in Canacona coast, Parrikar said to achieve something government needs time and even the tourism fees structure for Canacona and especially Palolem will be resolved.
“I will commit to take up the fee structure issue of private shacks and huts by May 18, soon after the end of the Election Code of Conduct,” assured Parrikar.
Tawadkar also urged Palolem residents to vote for BJP, so that Modi government is formed at the Centre. “This will make our chief minister’s hands stronger and it will be easy to get more developments to Canacona and particularly tourism important Palolem area,” he added.
Parrikar along with Tawdkar and other BJP local leaders later visited Agonda and addressed another corner meeting at Val-ward in the village.
Parrikar asked the people to vote for BJP and send both the MPs to make the hands of Modi stronger. “This way, we will be able to bring more developmental funds to our State,” he added.
Parrikar further informed the residents that his government is helping people with cash incentives, including Laadli laximi, Gruha Laximi, and requested to vote for BJP so that similar schemes for the benefit of residents are continued.
