PANJIM: Days after Aam Admi Party dared BJP to project Manohar Parrikar as their prime ministerial candidate, the chief minister on Wednesday said he could consider becoming prime minister if party asked him.
“Who is Aam Admi party to decide whether I should be prime ministerial candidate? It is for my party to decide. If they say, I can consider,” Parrikar told reporters.
He further added, ‘If you (media) make me, then I will become (prime minister),” he quipped. “Someone from the road comes and tells you what to do in the kitchen, will you listen to them?” Parrikar questioned.
The AAP Goa unit on Monday had dared the BJP to project Parrikar as its prime ministerial candidate if the party wants to correct its mistake.
AAP spokesperson Dinesh Waghela had said that if the BJP valued simplicity, then it should drop Modi and select Parrikar as its prime ministerial candidate.
In the recently held Modi’s Vijay Sankalp rally, attended by over one lakh crowd, Parrikar was praised by his senior leaders including President Rajnath Singh for his simplicity and leadership quality. Modi had even said that BJP needs leaders like Parrikar to run for office.
