PANJIM: Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has assured that all industries, including pharmaceutical industries, will get uninterrupted power and water supply in the next few months.
Addressing the inaugural of the three-day Indian Pharmaceutical Association convention at Kala Academy on Monday, Parsekar said that the government is making attempts to set up green industries in Goa and will offer a single window system to encourage potential investors in this sector to set up shop in Goa.
“Government is making attempts to provide conducive environment and everything else required for the setting up of green industries,” he said.
The minister expressed confidence that in the next few months the system will be in place and the industries will have no complaints of water or power supply. “There will be complete transparency. We will provide all infrastructure needed for setting up green industries,” he reiterated.
“The ultimate aim is to enhance knowledge on drug development, manufacturing drugs at lower rate for all mankind…Budgets are shrinking and cost of drugs is rising…” he elaborated.
The convention titled ‘Indian Pharma Industry: Strategies for Excellence’ is hosted to provide a platform to promulgate knowledge and facilitate sharing of ideas from professionals from pharmaceutical industry and regulatory agencies.
Scientific sessions that will discuss technical developments in the industry will also be deliberated. A number of workshops including ‘CEO Panel Discussion’ will also be included. India Pharmaceuticals Association President J A S Giri said he expects more pharma industries to come to Goa. IPA Goa Unit’s Salim Veljee and other members of the association were also present. Around 600 delegates from across the country are expected to participate in the convention.
