SANGUEM: The villagers residing in the hilly area of Tudov ward of Netravali village Panchayat in Sanguem had to go without power supply on the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi festival, after five electricity poles in the area were damaged considerably.
The incident occurred in the afternoon after a tree fell on the live wires causing damage to five electricity poles in the village. The villagers were inconvenienced as they in the midst of their preparations for the festival.
Deputy Sarpanch Abhijit Dessai said he contacted the Assistant Engineer, Electricity Department Sanguem Dinesh Gomes, who had assured to restore power supply in the village by Saturday afternoon so that the villagers get to celebrate the Ganesh Festival in a proper atmosphere.
It is however to be noted here that the Tudov, Salgini and Verlem village face power supply problem almost on a regular basis during the monsoon.
Earlier this month, the hilly areas had power supply problems for a few days.
