MARGAO: Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar’s statements on a dress code for the Carnival have evoked strong criticism in Curtorim, which has its own carnival parade. Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, who was amongst the critics, claimed that there is an environment of fear and anxiety amongst the people of Goa after listening to Parulekar’s statements of introducing a dress code for the carnival. He has also advised Parulekar against trying to change or control traditions and culture.
“The people fear that the Carnival may close down in Goa. We strongly denounce Parulekar’s statements and demand that the Government roll back its stand,” said Reginaldo.
