In the wake of the recent fatal accident on Porsakadem , Naibag junction, locals have urged the authorities for immediate construction of flyover. Locals of Pernem along with the authorities visited the Naibag junction at Poraskade, Pernem for the construction of a flyover on Tuesday.
The Naibag junction is considered as accident prone area as the highway has witnessed numerous fatal accidents due to lack of a fly-over. Frustrated locals questioned the government for not accounting responsibility and demand the flyover to be built immediately.
“Babu Azgaonkar, the former MLA of Pernem, promised us the flyover would be finished at the time, but it hasn’t been finished and accidents have instead escalated. The former MLA deserves recognition today for being in charge of all the fatalities and property damage on this route.” said a frustrated local.
Despite the issue being raised in the assembly by Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar, no action has been taken till now. The authorities have given an assurance by installing Traffic signals at Poraskade and Don Khamb Dhargal before the flyover construction so that the traffic or the accident can be reduced.
“Several accidents have occurred on this highway today, one of which involved a reported fatality. The absence of a service road is the cause of everything. It is difficult for people to move throughout the village. I had asked CM to investigate this. CM has given an assurence regarding the completion of the flyover and traffic signals will be installed at Poraskade and Don Khamb Dhargal ahead of the construction.” Said MLA Arlekar
