PANJIM: The Goa government has decided to temporarily stop sanctioning monetary benefits under its various schemes from February 15, as the model code of conduct be enforced anytime after the announcement of Lok Sabha polls.
No more sanctions will be made under Goa government’s flagship schemes Laadli Laxmi and Griha Aadhar, and the Mining Affected/Impacted Relief Scheme 2012 until code of conduct, is lifted by the Election Commission of India after the polls.
“We will accept applications under the two flagship schemes even after the cut-off date. Scrutiny and sanction will be done only after the code of conduct is lifted, although it is not enforced yet,” Goa Electronics Limited Chairman Dattaprasad Naik told Herald.
GEL, which is handling various welfare schemes of the government online, is confident that 1600 applications under the Laadli Laxmi and 2355 under Griha Aadhar in addition to several thousand already sanctioned before the deadline, will be sanctioned benefit under the schemes. Interestingly, Naik revealed the government is gifting Valentines’ Day goodies to its ‘sisters’ as the Griha Aadhar beneficiaries will cross one lakh mark by February 14.
He informed that GEL received 1,16,06 applications of which 97,707 have already begun getting monthly payment of Rs 1,000 under the scheme while 2355 are ready for sanctioning. “Over one lakh beneficiaries will start getting the financial assistance before the cut-off date,” he added.
The GEL has rejected 494 applications and set aside 817 due to non-submission of documents, even as the applicants were given extended time to do so. 6639 applicants were given time to complete their incomplete applications.
Meanwhile, 11,900 married women are availing the Rs one-lakh scheme under Laadli Laxmi with the GEL expects to sanction assistance to additional 1600 applicants which will raise the total to 13,500. Out of the total 17,254 applications it has received, 986 are incomplete while 213 were rejected and 388 are closed due to non-submission of relevant documents.
The Umbrella scheme for mining dependents have though been closed for accepting applications, is still rolling out financial help to those already applied after thorough scrutiny. The GEL received 17,092 applications of mining truck owners for availing maximum Rs 12,000 fixed under the scheme, 6,900 applicants have begun gaining the benefit while 12 are pending for sanction and three are under process.
